Open-field PV

Open-field photovoltaics: Efficient and sustainable use of solar parks

As an experienced company in the construction of open-field systems and solar parks, we tap into unused areas for large-scale solar power generation – efficient, economical, and sustainable. Compared to traditional rooftop systems, open-field installations offer numerous advantages and are ideal for farmers, municipalities, and investors with suitable land plots.

Your benefits with open-field PV:
    • Dual use of the land possible
    • Safety for fields and animals
    • Huge land potential
    • Reduction of wind loads and solar radiation
With HÖRMANN, you rely on an experienced partner for the planning, approval, and construction of high-performance open-field photovoltaic systems.

    Classic open-field system

Photovoltaic open-field systems are the classic. For years, these solar parks have been built along railway lines,
motorways, or on difficult-to-farm plots, to generate electricity sustainably.
The solar modules can be adjusted to the sun's position and optimal direction. This leads to maximized energy gain.
Another point: solar parks clearly boost biodiversity. Various animal and plant species find a new home under the modules.

Thus, they serve not only for sustainable electricity generation but also for ecological enhancement of the soil.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

From what system size is an open-field system worthwhile?

Implementation is economically feasible from about 1 MWp. If there is high self-consumption of the generated electricity, a system with lower output is already economical.

How much space is required for the construction of the open-field system?

In most cases, an area of 1 hectare (10,000 m²) is required for 1MWp (1,000 kWp).

On which areas can a PV open-field system be built?
    • Privileged planning process (near motorways, double-track railway lines → up to 200 m distance)
    • Explicitly permitted according to the development plan
    • At a distance of a maximum of 500 m from motorways and tracks
    • Conversion areas (e.g., military areas, landfill areas, etc.)
    • Agriculturally disadvantaged areas (different regulations depending on the federal state)
