How large should a species-appropriate horse box be?

The size of the box depends on the size of the horse. As a minimum, the guidelines for the assessment of horse keeping under animal welfare considerations state the formula (2xWh)². For a withers height of 1.70 m, this results in a box size of at least 11.56 m². When planning, areas for hay racks should be considered, as these may need to be deducted depending on the model. Yes, a horse stable or an indoor riding arena is always subject to approval! First, it must be clarified whether construction is to take place inside or outside. Depending on this, further requirements arise, which specify whether a building can be approved. It is therefore advisable to contact the local authorities early for a planned construction project. How do I achieve a pleasant riding atmosphere in the indoor riding arena?

In the indoor riding arena, two factors play a decisive role: on the one hand, the penetration of daylight creates a bright, friendly atmosphere. On the other hand, the air quality. Optimal supply and exhaust air allow the air to circulate and be exchanged, which is particularly necessary due to the regular watering of the riding surface. An insulated roof completes the package and buffers external temperature peaks so that it is possible to ride in the indoor riding arena all year round.

Photovoltaic on equestrian facilities - what needs to be considered?

Equipping the equestrian facility with a photovoltaic system leads to energy-efficient management of the entire horse operation or can financially support the operation in the case of full feed-in.
However, it is important to clarify the feasibility at the given location in advance. It is mainly about the connection to the power grid and the presence of a nearby transformer. If feasibility is generally possible, the PV load must be considered in the static calculation of the buildings – for us, this is already included in the offer.

What are the advantages of wood as a building material?

Building with wood is climate-friendly! Why?
Because 1 m³ of wood binds about 1 t CO₂ during its growth. At HÖRMANN, we primarily rely on domestic woods to keep transport routes as short as possible and thus contribute to climate protection. Additionally, the building material wood creates a bright, friendly atmosphere, which makes both horse and human feel comfortable. Furthermore, wood can be architecturally combined optimally with other building materials.
