Your partner for all construction projects –
Everything about your equestrian facility and your horses
Our heart beats for horses and equestrian sport. That is why we design and realize with great passion and attention to detail all buildings for equestrian operations and their horses: from the complete facility to individual buildings, such as an indoor riding arena or stables, up to a combination of indoor riding arena or stable with residential building.
Good advice and careful planning are, for us, the key to a successful project execution and the foundation for a long-lasting facility that you and your horses will enjoy. For this, when building an equestrian facility we combine our expertise with state-of-the-art technology and appealing architecture. To ensure a high quality standard, we produce essential building components as well as parts of the interior, e.g. horse boxes ourselves. A horse-friendly husbandry is always the top priority when building facilities of any type and size.
Our mission: The best for the horses and fully satisfied customers.

We take care of carrying out your construction project: from consulting through the planning phase to the manufacturing and assembly of your equestrian facility, your indoor riding arena or your horse barn. Built to feel good
For us, an equestrian sports facility or a horse barn is only successful when both horse and owner feel completely comfortable in it. This only works if the horse welfare already has top priority during planning.
Perfectly tailored to you
The first step in this direction for us is always personal contact. We base our individual consulting on that. In an intensive consultation we develop a concept for your construction project. In the interplay between your wishes, the best technical solution and your budget, the planning for your perfect equestrian facility is created.
Highest quality and durability
Our expertise is our unique depth of production. Because all essential parts and components of your building, whether in steel or wood, are produced in our plant in Buchloe in the Allgäu. That means you have the choice whether to implement your building in wood, steel, concrete or a combination.

In addition to the obvious material and assembly costs for the building, there are other services and trades that must be taken into account. Of course, these differ depending on the construction project and its complexity.
Possible cost items can be:
- Concept creation/planning
- Preparation of the building application documents
- Surveying/soil investigation
- Execution planning
- Verification statics
- Fire protection report
- Earthworks
- Earthing systems
- Interior fit-out: electrical installation, lighting
- Stable equipment
- Riding arena floor
- Irrigation system
- Outdoor facilities
- Etc.
We will be happy to advise you on the cost items that need to be planned when building an equestrian facility.
The size of the stall depends on the size of the horse. As a minimum, the guideline for assessing horse husbandry from an animal welfare perspective gives the formula (2xWh)². With a withers height of 1.70 m, this results in a stall size of at least 11.56 m². However, when planning, areas for hay racks should also be taken into account, as these may have to be deducted depending on the model. We will be happy to advise you on this, tailored to the individual case.
Yes, a horse barn or an indoor riding arena always requires approval! First, it must be clarified whether construction takes place inside or outside the settlement area. Depending on this, further requirements arise that determine whether a building is approvable. For a planned construction project, it is therefore advisable to contact the local authorities at an early stage. We will be happy to support you in the approval processes for your building.
Two factors play a decisive role in the indoor riding arena: on the one hand, the incidence of daylight, which ensures a bright, friendly atmosphere. On the other hand, the air quality. Through optimal supply and exhaust air, the air can circulate and be exchanged. This is particularly necessary due to the regular watering of the riding surface. An insulated roof rounds it off and buffers external temperature peaks so that riding is possible in the indoor riding arena throughout the year.
Equipping the equestrian facility with a photovoltaic system leads to energy-efficient operation of the entire equestrian business or, with full feed-in, can financially support operations.
However, it is important to clarify feasibility at the given location in advance. This mainly concerns the connection to the power grid and the presence of a nearby transformer. If feasibility is fundamentally possible, the PV load must be taken into account in the structural calculation of the buildings – with us this is already included in the offer.
Building with wood is climate-friendly! Why?
Because 1 m³ of wood binds approx. 1 t CO2 during its growth. At HÖRMANN we mainly rely on domestic woods to keep transport routes as short as possible and thus contribute to climate protection. In addition, the building material wood creates a bright, friendly atmosphere so that horses and people feel completely comfortable. Furthermore, wood can be combined architecturally in an optimal way with other building materials.
Feel free to talk to us about it!
