The dimensions of warehouses can vary significantly. They range from small and space-saving to large-scale. Most commonly, they are about 15 x 30 m or 20 x 50 m. However, smaller and much larger warehouses are also common in commercial construction. Especially popular is a combination of warehouse and office. Warehouses tend to have a sloped roof, as this is more economical than a flat roof. With a sufficient roof pitch, column-free spans of over 60 m are possible. The gates should have a clearance height for trucks, allowing for easy loading and unloading within the hall. Therefore, a gate height of at least 4.5 m is advisable, with 5 m being recommended. For a warehouse, a canopy is useful for weather protection when loading and unloading goods and products. For this purpose, a 5 m large canopy on the eaves side of the hall is usually sufficient.

Safety for the stored goods is our top priority
The requirements for building a warehouse also depend on what will be stored inside. Depending on this, you can choose between insulated or non-insulated variants of the warehouse. Trapezoidal sheet profiles are typical for simple unheated warehouses and are commonly used for roofing and cladding. To reduce condensation water (also known as dew water), an anti-drip coating has proven effective as protection against condensation. This keeps stored goods safe from moisture, such as dripping from sweat water. However, this coating can lose its effectiveness over time with increased dust exposure, and in unfavorable weather conditions, it may not fully absorb the water. A higher quality solution is therefore a thin sandwich element (insulation thickness 40 mm). For highly sensitive stored goods, you should consider a lightly insulated roof.

The advantage of a HÖRMANN warehouse: Simple approval and fireproof with F30 construction method
Warehouses by HÖRMANN are mostly constructed in the fireproof F30 construction method. This allows hall sizes of up to 40 m in length to be rapidly approved through a simplified approval process (exemption procedure). In addition, the building can be economically constructed up to 3 m from the property line. For pure steel halls, this is only possible with a significantly more expensive non-combustible facade. This F30 construction method is made possible by the use of wood and specially coated steel. Coated steel columns in a warehouse are not only advantageous from a fire safety perspective, they also allow for a slimmer construction form than wood columns, thus providing more space for shelving.
